New Governance Entity for Hauraki
Tena koutou nga whānau whānui o Hauraki
It’s long been accepted that a new Governance Entity is needed to see Hauraki Iwi into the future. Together, our challenge is to decide how we want to be represented and organised, how our assets should be managed and how we think whānau, hapu and Iwi should benefit. Discussion and engagement from you on this is important and the Hauraki Māori Trust Board invites you to share your views at this early stage of the process and stay engaged as our korero progresses over the next few years.
The Future Governance Arrangements for Hauraki document has been designed to start discussion. Click here for Document It brings together independent thinking about this take from discussion groups and Hauraki individuals who have contributed to date and the things that they believe are important to address. In the paper is a range of structural models that Hauraki could look at and we will undertake further work around these.
- By the end of 2009 we will bring together a discussion document, informed by your initial feedback, that proposes a preferred new governance entity model for Hauraki.
- 2010 and 2011 we will continue to engage you in the design and refinement.
- Seek ratification of a new governance entity model for Hauraki by December 2011.
- Transition into the new governance entity and dis-establishment of the Hauraki Māori Trust Board is planned for 2012 and 2013.
